Spring has definitely sprung! The weather is nice and warm and the playground is open for business!
We have been busy learning about money and now are learning how to tell time. In grade 2, students must tell time to the hour, half hour, quarter to and quarter after the hour. Practice reading analog clocks at home with your child to help them out.
We wrapped up our money unit by having a small store. The students really enjoyed spending the money that they had saved during the unit.
We also continue to work on problem solving, place value and math facts. Dreambox is helping students at their own level and is a great complement to our math program. Please continue to make use of this program at your home.
In Language, we have been learning about creating mental pictures while we read. We have been reading several stories about the Amazon Rainforest to assist us in this strategy. In writing, the students have been exploring opinion writing.
Our Social Studies lessons have been focusing on learning how children live around the world. We have discussed the climate of different countries and how that effects homes, clothing and recreation.
Later this month the students will be heading to the Groundwater Festival in Waterloo. This a fantastic trip. The blue trip form will come home shortly. The other form was only for parent volunteers.
Thanks for your on-going support!

By the way, we have bought one goat and are well on our way to the second one!! Thanks so much!
